The planning application submitted by German developer vento ludens for a 101m Met Mast located above the village of Tomich was ‘Refused’ at the last meeting of the Highland Council South Planning Application Committee.
We are aware of only one other occasion that a met mast has ever been ‘Refused’ by Highland Council.
The reasons given for ‘Refusal’ were:
- Significant impact to the Affric Kintail Way and Core Paths
- Visual impact to Knockfin and to the entrance of Glen Affric
- Disparity in height with the Tweedmouth Monument
- Failing to avoid deep peat
A link to the decision can be found here:
The previous ‘Refusal’ of the smaller 6 turbine Beinn Mhor wind farm in 2015, on the same ground, and this ‘Refusal’ against the Fiodhag met mast, shows without doubt that this is simply the wrong location for any wind farm.
